Details

Habitat

It inhabits evergreen, montane, and moist forests from the eastern Himalaya into Southeast Asia. Main habitat types in this guide are forest, mountain.

Appearance

Typical length 45-62 cm, weight 2 kg-5 kg. Marbled markings, a long tail, and broad feet suit movement among branches.

Behavior

It is nocturnal and usually solitary. It is thought to be strongly arboreal and moves quietly through forest at night.

Feeding

It is carnivorous. Birds, squirrels and other small mammals, and reptiles are likely prey.

Reproduction

Breeding is poorly documented, but small litters are raised in hidden dens.
